 | Big Day with Bat: Rodríguez 5-7 Sunday, August 27th, 2028: It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-7 day. It may only come around once in a career -- a lot of players never have one -- but Juan Jose Rodríguez got one today. He scattered hits all over Skydome to pace Minnesota to a 18-3 victory over Toronto. The Toronto skipper told reporters in the press room, "Tip your hat to him. He hit some good pitches. According to the scouting report, Rodríguez hit several that he is not supposed to hit." J. Rodríguez singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, struck out in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run double in the 9th. Looking at his stats this year, Rodríguez has compiled a .330 batting average, while hitting 20 home runs and driving in 76 runs. He has played in 99 games and scored 91 runs. |
